Underground mining safety measures need to keep people safe by being predictable, repeatable, and reliable. You know you need to get away from the inconsistency and damageability of wood guides, and get the advantages of using steel guides. But you'll also get complexities and costs from using multiple ropes. Plus, breaking devices that rely on friction can be compromised by dirt or oil on the metal. But there's a new way to know that whenever this happens, safety will be ensured. Introducing Cage Guardian from FLSmidth. A breaking mechanism with purely mechanical function and no hydraulics, pneumatics, or electronics, Cage Guardian has a self-contained break path that doesn't rely on the shaft guides for full performance. When an event happens, the clamps are forcibly wedged onto the guides. And kinetic energy drives the break paths through the calipers, stopping the cage safely. Cage Guardian actuates upon any suspension failure to arrest and hold the cage securely in the shaft. With stable deceleration rates and proper performance under all personnel load conditions, Cage Guardian will bring the cage to a safe stop predictably, repeatably, and reliably. Because the most important thing to come out of a mine is the miner. Learn more at flsmith.io/cageguardian
