cut back one engineering company has
taken a bold decision to expand its
perth-based facility flsmidth a global
engineering company supplying mineral
processing plants materials handling
systems and services to the mining and
cement industries has signed off on an
expansion of its Australian Super Center
in welshpool now in its second year of
operation the expansion scheduled for
completion in mid 2015 will double the
facilities warehouse and workshop from
5,000 square metres to 10,000 square
metres the investment is aimed at
bringing further value to FL Smith's
Australian customers by increasing
coordination and integration of the
company's products and services and
minimizing lead times through added
capacity in its workshop and warehouse I
think the supercenter allows us the
opportunity have all the technical
competency under one roof allows us to
do refurbishments rebuilds replacements
and support the customer base in trying
to keep the machines operating you know
obviously downtime is quite critical in
the future of productivity for the
mining customers so if we can minimize a
downtime through competency through
ability to have field service or product
specialists to be able to support their
customer base is quite critical plus the
reversion of time to turn things around
and get back to the site so they can
increase then continue their
productivity is quite critical and the
beauty of this centre is that it's got
everything under one roof we don't have
multiple sites we only have one single
sock they all work together we have
cross-pollination capabilities and we
have a tender of complex you gotta
support the customer we thought we're
going to be expanding but not so sorry
certainly positive for us in penalty for
our customers two years ago I was on
this side cutting the ribbon and opening
this facility and to use to this month
we're now to signed a contract to expand
the facility so I think the message that
our where we're saying is that we're
here for the long term not the short
term we're making a significant
commitment in the industry here and and
we're here to support the mining
industry we have a lot of breadth and
depth to bring in terms of service and
products and to be able to do it in a
facility such as this close to our
customers are operating is just we
believe it's a tremendous value and it
brings tremendous benefit
