extend shutdown intervals and improve productivity with FL Schmitt where max a proven solution to reduce abrasion where commonly occurring in bulk handling and processing equipment where Max is a ceramic compound that hard cures quickly and is easy to mix and apply by hand to protect equipment surfaces from sliding abrasion wear and corrosion wear max are hard-wearing easy to apply solution extending equipment shut down intervals improving productivity this video is designed to demonstrate how to correctly mix and apply FL Smit where max quick set travel ceramic compound perform mixing where max it is important to make sure you have the following appropriate PPE to ensure protection of bare skin from the product safety boots safety glasses nitrile gloves apron and long sleeve overalls where max is supplied in a cardboard box with two seven kilogram cute packs complete with two pairs of nitrile gloves and a mixing board ready for on-site mixing and application for this demonstration we will be using the seven kilogram kit which includes one bucket of Part A epoxy compound and one bottle of Part B hardener liquid the contents from the Part A bucket is white in color the liquid in the Part B bottle has a blue dye mixed with it ideally the complete contents of both Part A and Part B containers in the seven kilogram kit should be emptied onto the mixing board and mixed together thoroughly in this demonstration we will show how to keep the ratios the same when only one-quarter of the kit is needed empty one-quarter of the part a bucket contents onto the mixing board use the graduation marks on the Part B bottle to accurately measure out one quarter of the Part B liquid hardener the mixing can be easily achieved by using your gloved hands mix the Part A and Part B for about seven minutes the contents of Part A and Part B must be thoroughly mixed together the blue dye in the Part B will give the indication when the mixture is of even color consistency after where Max quick-set has been thoroughly mixed at an ambient temperature of 23 degrees Celsius where Max quick-set has a working time or pot life of approximately 15 minutes and the surface will harden after about 1 hour where Max Kwikset will be hard cured in four hours and fully cured after 24 hours where max can not be used in temperatures less than 15 degrees Celsius the surface would need to be heated above 15 degrees Celsius if else met where max adheres to most clean dry surfaces including metal ceramic rubber and concrete before applying where Max the surface should be clean dry and free from any flaking rust the ideal surface to apply where Max is one that has received a class two point five near white sand or shot blast to give a sharp profile in this example we will apply where max to a steel scroll the mixture can be applied to the prepared surface with a pushing motion this pushing motion ensures the best possible surface adherence when working with where Max working time and cure time depends on temperature and mass the higher the temperature the faster the cure rate the larger the mass of where max the faster the cure rate where max should ideally not be applied over thirty five millimeters thick as the exothermic reaction could heat up to 60 degrees Celsius and destroy the compound if the surface is to be built up to a thicker layer than 35 millimeters it is better to make two applications allowing the first application to cure for a few hours before applying the next layer if a smoother surface is desired which your gloved hand with water for the final finishing stroke and smooth out any lumps or ripples that may be apparent make sure to not over wet the surface as it will destroy the adhesive nature of the binding resin thank you for watching this video demonstration on how to mix and apply we're max we hope you found it informative
